A checklist for buying fashion across borders

Compare the whole purchase, including what happens if the item is not right.

Use the right destination setting

Set your delivery country on the retailer’s website before comparing products. Availability, currency, delivery options and checkout terms can differ by destination. A product visible in a different regional storefront may not be available to ship to you.

Compare the total, not just the product price

Record the product price, delivery charge, currency and any taxes or duties shown at checkout. Check whether charges are included or whether additional amounts may be payable. If the wording is unclear, ask the retailer. For India deliveries, consult the seller’s destination-specific information and current official customs guidance rather than applying a generic percentage.

Read the return conditions before ordering

• When does the return window begin?
• Must a return be received or simply requested within that window?
• Are sale items, personalized pieces or particular categories excluded?
• Who pays return shipping, and how is the return arranged?
• How are delivery charges and any import charges handled?

Keep packaging and tags until you have checked the item in line with the seller’s return instructions. A retailer’s policy and any applicable consumer rights are separate considerations.

Match the exact item when comparing

Use the designer style reference, material, colour and size. Similar photographs do not prove two listings are the same product. Check whether the item is new, pre-owned or offered by a third-party seller.

Allow for timing and currency differences

Check the estimated delivery window and payment provider’s currency-conversion charges before an occasion-dependent purchase. A refund may not produce the same home-currency amount as the original payment. Your card provider can explain its fees.

Save the evidence

Keep the order confirmation, applicable product description, return instructions and tracking details. Contact the actual seller about delivery or returns; Resevaria does not process these orders.
